2 injured in rollover at 82nd and Indiana
Lubbock police were on the scene of a two-vehicle collision near 82nd Street and Indiana Avenue on Thursday afternoon.
Before 1 p.m., police were called to the intersection. While the collision resulted in a rollover, police said both drivers suffered minor injuries.
LPD Sgt. Tim Seeley said the preliminary investigation showed a silver SUV was traveling eastbound in the right lane when the driver ran a red light.
Investigators believe alcohol may be a factor in a two-vehicle collision that left three people injured Friday morning on U.S. Highway 84 west of Slaton.
The driver of a Chevrolet Equinox, 21-year-old Zachary Buckmeir of Slaton, was taken to University Medical Center after his vehicle crashed into a Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 30-year-old Christopher Muldrow of Albuquerque, according to Cpl. John Gonzalez with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
South Plains county and state law enforcement officials worked for more than a year to arrest 18 people in Lamb County as part of an investigation into methamphetamine distribution.
The cases were in relation to the distribution and sale of methamphetamine in the area, said Lamb County District/County Attorney Scott A. Say in a joint news conference with law officials Friday afternoon in the Lamb County Courthouse.
Even with the significant number of recent arrests, Say said he expects similar enterprises to continue as methamphetamine is a serious problem in Texas.
Nearly 15 years after her husband’s death in the line of duty as a Lubbock police officer, an annual ceremony honoring fallen officers still brings back painful memories for Tonya Cox.
“My husband was Sgt. Kevin Cox. It’s hard for us because we have to deal with this every year, but at the same time we have to honor our loved ones,” she said Friday at the National Peace Officers’ Day Memorial in Lubbock.
Cox and her family were among dozens from the Lubbock community who gathered to remember the fallen Friday morning at the Lubbock County Courthouse.

The event was part of National Salvation Army Week, which kicked off Monday morning with a proclamation reading from Lubbock City Councilman Jeff Griffith in front of City Hall.
Spouses and Salvation Army Capts. Robert and Nicole Parker stood next to Griffith during the reading. Capt. Robert Parker said the organization relies heavily on community efforts.
