Lubbock led the nation in gang arrests in a special nationwide U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation.
In the six-week Project Wildfire operation that included 282 cities, 976 arrests were made nationwide between Feb. 23 and March 31 by ICE’s Homeland Security Investigators, according to a release by ICE.
“More than any other area in the country, Lubbock led the nation with 122 arrests,” said Carl Rusnok, director of communications at ICE in Dallas.
March was a busy month for the crew, said Charles Cobb, resident agent in charge of HSI in Lubbock.
