Lubbock man sentenced to 87 months in prepubescent child pornography case

A 55-year-old man was sentenced Friday in a Lubbock federal court to 87 months in prison for downloading child pornography two years ago.

U.S. District Judge Sam Cummings handed Roberto Garcia the 7¼-year sentence and ordered him to surrender to the bureau of prisons on May 15.

Garcia, who is out on bond, pleaded guilty in December to one count of possession of prepubescent child pornography.

He admitted to using his home computer to search for and download child pornography from June 2013 to September 2013.

AUSTIN (AP) — Three Central Texas residents are going to prison and must repay the IRS nearly $1 million for filing about 350 bogus returns and collecting the cash.

Federal prosecutors in Austin on Wednesday announced the penalties in a Killeen-based tax scheme since 2010.
