The Lubbock Police Department arrested a wanted subject who barricaded himself in a room Friday afternoon at the Coronado Inn in Lubbock.
Officials said they obtained an arrest warrant for Nicholas Sharp and located him Friday afternoon at Coronado Inn, located near Erskine Street and North Interstate27, according to a news release. Officials said Sharp barricaded himself in a room. During that time, officers temporarily blocked off a portion of the access road.
Eventually, Sharp surrendered without incident and was arrested on an aggravated robbery charge.
The U.S. Marshals Service is asking for the public’s help in locating a federal fugitive who was erroneously released from the Lubbock County Detention Center earlier this week.
The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office said it erroneously released 32-year-old Ernest Ray Zavala from jail on Tuesday, according to a news release.
Officials discovered the error around noon Friday.
“We immediately launched a preliminary investigation to determine the problem that resulted in the release and began a full-scale recovery effort,” according to the news release.

A man mistakenly released from the Lubbock County Detention Center last week was back in the jail by Sunday morning after a road trip through New Mexico and Arizona to Las Vegas and back to Hobbs, N.M.
The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office said it erroneously released Ernest Ray Zavala, 32, on June 23. Officials discovered the error on Friday.
Lt. Bryan Taylor of the sheriff’s office said the release is under investigation and he has no information on how the error happened.
Taylor said Zavala has a long history of assaults.

An 18-year-old Lubbock mom and her boyfriend were arrested Wednesday after the woman’s 1-year-old boy died over the weekend.
Madison Rodriguez, 18, and Charles Dillon Flournoy, 21, were both booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center, each on a charge of injury to a child.
Patrol officers responded to assist EMS in reference to a call about a 1-year-old child that was not breathing about 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of East 25th Street.
“Detectives were also called to the scene a short time later,” according to a news release.
