Police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run that happened early Sunday morning in North Lubbock.
Investigators believe Travis Motsenbocker was tending to a dog in the roadway when he was struck by another vehicle after 2 a.m. near Slide Road and Erskine Street, according to Lubbock police. Motsenbocker was found outside of his vehicle and died from his injuries. The dog was also dead.
Police believe a driver in a gold car was responsible for the crash.
Police officers blocked several rows of parking outside a Lubbock grocery store Sunday evening after one person was shot.
Officers responded to the shooting about 6:20 p.m. at the United Supermarket in the 2600 block of Parkway Drive.
A verbal argument led to a physical altercation, which then led to a shooting, said Lubbock Police Department spokesman Lt. Ray Mendoza. The male victim, whose name was not released, was transported to University Medical Center in serious condition.

One man was arrested after a domestic violence call Tuesday morning where a man wanted money from his girlfriend, Lubbock police say.
The man assaulted his girlfriend when she refused to give him money, according to a statement by Lt. Ray Mendoza.
Adam Lee Sanchez, 26, was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on felony charges of Robbery, assault, and misdemeanor charges of no insurance and criminal mischief, according to Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office records.
His bond is set at $10,500.
