A woman is listed in critical condition, Monday, July 15, following a shooting around 10:45 p.m. Sunday that left one man dead at a motel in the 800 block of 34th Street.
Brenda Sue Caudillo, 44, is in critical condition at University Medical Center after suffering three gunshot wounds, according to police. Pedro Esteban Hernandez, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Police: No credibility to kidnapping scheme
Lubbock police say there is no evidence supporting reports circulating in social media networks about a kidnapping scheme in the city.
The Lubbock Police Department received numerous calls Wednesday, July 17, regarding social media reports that door-to-door booksellers are targeting households to kidnap children, according to a department news release that was distributed by email and posted on Facebook.

Three people are in jail facing first-degree felony charges in connection with a June robbery of a Taco Villa restaurant.
Dodson Smith, 20, Diondre Bell, 20, and Brittany Higgins, 17, are accused of robbing the restaurant at gunpoint with another man while three employees were closing up for the night, according to a warrant filed on July 15. Bond for Smith and Bell is set at $100,000 each. Higgins’ bond is set at $50,000.
