Texas Department of Public Safety troopers are investigating a Sunday, Jan. 19 one-vehicle wreck that killed a 63-year-old man in Crosby County.
Regino Mata Jr. of Crosbyton was pronounced dead at the scene outside of his 1997 Mazda pickup truck on the grassy area on the east side of Texas 207, 5 miles south of Ralls, according to DPS officials.
Troopers responded to the wreck about 4 p.m.
Lubbock fire crews quickly extinguished a fire Tuesday morning, Jan. 22, at a recycling yard in southeast Lubbock that was caused by a vehicle fire.
A single fire engine crew responded to a vehicle fire about 9:46 a.m. at Jarvis Metals Recycling at 7825 Olive Ave., according to Rob Keinast, Lubbock Fire Rescue battalion chief.
He said the fire spread to a fence and a tank containing 100 gallons of a fuel/oil mixture collected from vehicles slated for crushing at the yard.

Lubbock fire investigators are trying to find the cause of a Thursday morning, Jan. 23, fire that destroyed a house in West Lubbock.
About six Lubbock Fire Rescue units arrived about 5:50 a.m. to an empty house in the 7900 block of 19th Street fully engulfed in flames, according to a Lubbock Fire Rescue news release.
Fire crews had the fire under control about 7:30 a.m. A brush truck unit was called in to put out spot fires around the house.
No injuries were reported.
