A Hale County judge has been ordered to re-examine a 20-year-old sex crime conviction against a Plainview man because the victim in the case has apparently recanted.
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals issued the order last week in the case of Raul Francisco Barron. The hearing must be held within 90 days.
Barron, now 53, was convicted in 1994 in the 242nd District Court in Hale County on two counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact.
Barron was paroled in 2012 and placed on civil commitment.

Crime Line is now offering a $5,000 reward to catch a violent robber who used a baseball bat to beat two Dairy Queen employees earlier this month.
Lubbock police announced the new reward amount Tuesday, Feb. 11.
Crime Line initially offered $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the robber and raised it to $2,500 Feb. 5.
Police responded to the robbery about 1 a.m. Feb. 1 and found Dairy Queen employee Jesse Rios covered in blood.
Investigators believe the robber ambushed Rios as he was taking out the trash behind the restaurant.

The student requested to go across the street from the school to the playa to look at the geese, according to a statement from the Lubbock Independent School District.
