A federal magistrate postponed the preliminary and detention hearings on Wednesday, April 24, for one of the two men arrested at Lubbock’s airport last week on marijuana possession charges.
Ethan Oliver Wynne-Wade had not hired an attorney, forcing U.S. Magistrate Judge Nancy M. Koenig to postpone the hearings until May 1.
That is the same day the pilot of the marijuana-laden airplane, Michael Gallanter, will have his preliminary and detention hearings.
Wynne-Wade told Koenig he hopes to hire an attorney, and asked the magistrate to appoint an attorney in the meantime.

The Texas Workforce Commission said Monday, April 29, that it paid the back wage claims of 19 former Absolute Fuels employees in full.
And documents recently filed in U.S. District Court in Lubbock show the money came from proceeds of a foreclosure sale connected with company owner Jeffrey David Gunselman’s asset forfeitures in connection with his guilty plea last year in a massive biofuels fraud.
The workforce commission had placed liens on several pieces of real estate Gunselman or his business owned.
3 arrested in East Lubbock drug probe
Three people were arrested after a Lubbock SWAT-team raid as part of a narcotics investigation in East Lubbock.
The Lubbock police SWAT team entered a house on a search warrant stemming from an ongoing narcotics investigation about 10 p.m. Sunday, April 28 in the 300 block of Niter Avenue, said Lubbock police Sgt. Jason Lewis.

A Lubbock County grand jury indicted a 17-year-old Plainview youth on Tuesday, April 30, on charges of retaliation and making a terroristic threat to impede government operations.
The grand jury accused Luis Miguel Archuleta of threatening to blow up the George M. Mahon Federal Building and kill a deputy U.S. Marshal in retaliation for his three brothers being arrested on federal drug charges in the last year.
Archuleta is being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center. His bond totals $500,000 — $250,000 on each charge.
